Have you heard about Epiphora? Let’s explore excessive tearing!

Stars on Google.

Epiphora characterized by excessive tear production or the inability of the lacrimal system to adequately drain tears from the eyes. This results in constant tearing, ocular irritation, and in more severe cases, can lead to recurrent infections and compromised vision.

There are several causes for epiphora, including:

● Obstruction of the tear ducts;

● Ocular inflammation;

● Allergies;

● Infections;

Accurate diagnosis of the underlying cause is essential to determine the most appropriate treatment.

In cases of tear duct obstruction, surgical procedures may be necessary to unblock the ducts and restore normal tear flow. In other situations, such as allergies or infections, treatment may involve the use of eye drops, oral medications, or measures to reduce inflammation.

It should be noted that epiphora can partially relived with simple measures such as warm compresses or massage around the eye area to stimulate tear drainage.

In summary, epiphora can cause significant discomfort and affect the patient’s quality of life. With accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment, it is possible to alleviate symptoms and improve ocular function.

Always seek a specialist if you identify with the symptoms!
